The MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars Series is set to take in a six event schedule after the release of its 2020 calendar.

Set to start in March at Sydney Motorsport Park, the series will visit all three states along the eastern seaboard, plus South Australia.

Two of the six events remain unconfirmed, with the venue of Round 3 to be confirmed by the Shannons Nationals.

Typically that event has seen APC host its ‘Fight in the Night’ event at Queensland Raceway, though discussions remain ongoing on locking down that weekend.

Details are also yet to be confirmed for the sixth round of the series.

“2020 is looking very exciting for the MRF Tyres Australian Production Cars,” category manager Iain Sherrin said.

“Even though we cannot announce the details of our grand finale as yet, already we have a fantastic mix of events on our calendar at some of the best race tracks in the country.

“As well as expanding our calendar, following racer feedback we have also introduced the four one-hour race format which proved exceptionally popular during our 2019 season to more events.

“The 2020 season will host this format for at least three, if not four, events; which allows more of Australia’s production cars to be able to compete regularly as part of our calendar.”

Sherrin had been preparing to run more events away from the Shannons Nationals as competition for track time increased with the addition of S5000, TCR Australia, and the expected arrival of the LMP3 Cup Australia.

However, four of the events are set to run in conjunction with the Nationals, with the first and last events of the year not part of the CAMS run platform.

Production car racing will feature at Mount Panorama in April for the Bathurst 6 Hour, now an ARG owned event, though it does not form part of the Australian Production Cars series.

Australian Production Car series 2020 calendar
