Will Davison wants to lock in a long-term future with the Toll Holden Racing Team, despite his disappointing start to the 2010 V8 Supercars Championship Series.

Davison, currently 12th In the V8 title chase, is in the final year of his two-year deal with the factory Holden team. Ordinarily, Davison would be considered a major player in any driver silly season, but his lack of results this year have kept him under the radar.

After finishing second in last year’s title, big things were expected of Davison and his HRT team-mate Garth Tander. However, both endured a difficult start to the season, but while Tander’s fortunes improved with two wins in Adelaide, Davison continued to struggle.

Regardless, he told Speedcafe.com.au that he wants to sort a deal as soon as possible to remain with the Clayton, Victoria-based team.

“I can’t see any reason why things would change moving forward. I didn’t join HRT to be here for two years,” he said.

“I think we’re both looking at a long-term relationship, but at the end of the day, things need to be successful. We’ve had a lot of success together, it’s just the last three rounds have been terrible.

“Realistically, you want it tied up by the middle of the year, that’s for sure, but we’re in no crazy hurry.”
