Ford Performance Racing has confirmed that it will enter a third car in next year’s V8 Supercar Championship Series.

Rod Nash Racing will take its Racing Entitlements Contract to the factory Ford squad with The Bottle O Racing sponsorship for a driver that is yet to be announced.

A number of drivers have been linked to the seat, most noteably Jason Bargwanna and Andrew Thompson.

The third car will run in direct association with the official Ford entries, operating out of FPR’s existing Campbellfield factory and will be positioned alongside one-another in pit lane.

FPR Team Principal Tim Edwards
 said in a press statement that podium places is the aim of the expanded operation.

“The intention is that we want to have three cars regularly challenging for podium positions,” he said.

“For us, running three cars is the right business model and to be able to run three competitive cars gives us one more chance of getting a great result at every race meeting.

“This won’t be a standalone operation; it’s logistically much better for us to operate three cars all together as one unit. We believe that will get us the best result.”

Rod Nash, the
 RNR Team Principal, has competed in the V8 championship for the past 12 years and has held The Bottle-O support for the last three seasons. He says that this will be his best opportunity for success in the class.

“We have entered into a three-year contract with FPR and are very happy to now be part of this successful race team,” he said.

“I’m really happy with the quality of the engineering and FPR has been adding specialist resources to be able to build on the great track record they’ve already got.

“We’re looking forward to working with Tim’s crew and achieving some great results in this next term.”
