Improved Production Queensland - Round 2 PreviewImproved Production Queensland head to Queensland Raceway at Ipswich this weekend for the second round of the state championship.

With four races across the weekend, one of which will be held in twilight conditions on Saturday afternoon setting the weekend up for some amazing racing and spectacular views.

The championship is tight after the first round with Troy Marinelli leading over 2 litre and Greg Hartnett leading the way for under 2 litre.

This weekend will also see a young female driver making her debut with Improved Production Queensland by the name of Shannon Cane. Cane spoke to Improved Production Queensland over the weekend and is excited to go racing.

“I have raced Go Karts since I was 5 years old. My dad, is the person that started Auskart that runs at Lakeside”, Cane said.

“When I was 13, I wanted to race cars like my friend Callum. We bought a car and started to build it.”

“My dad and I discussed where to aim the car, and Improved Production was always the goal.”

“I am excited about racing in Improved Production. It has been a long time coming, 3 years! But finally I get my chance.”

Improved Production, as a national category, has had a number of female drivers compete over the years with Leanne Tander, Rachel Smearton and Carol Jackson to name a few. Ebony Coats and Queenslander, Gina Siddins, currently race in the series across Australia.

Racing commences Saturday morning July 8 and will run through to Sunday July 9. Tickets will be available at the gate.
