Super Saturday at Wangaratta City Raceway with 115+ competitors!

Wangaratta City Raceway this Saturday night will be the place to be at in Northeast Victoria!

Bring your blankets, Oodies, Thermoses with Soup, and your Thermal underwear, sit back, and enjoy a huge show that includes the Australian Grand Prix Midget title. Add to that the Victorian Junior Open Sedan title, the Unlimited Sedans state series round, Ladies Open Sedan Firecracker 1000, Goulburn Ovens Sedan Association aggregate round, Junior 1200cc Sedans aggregate event, Compact Speedcars aggregate event and Sports Sedans.

You are in for a ‘Huge’ night.

Competition in the Australian Grand Prix Midget title includes drivers from the Wangaratta Club and surrounding areas such as Jack Ward, Alex Myers, David Bacon, Shawn Ward and Terry Brown all from the Goulburn Valley. Shawn Ward and Alex Myers have results on the board this season with podiums, we then add the likes of Gary Bowyer from Sydney, Chris Fowler, Adam Buckley from Sydney who just won at Cullen Bullen, Riley Bowyer, Anthony Lea and Travis Florrimell into the mix and the national title is going to be seriously competitive.

Wangaratta’s Cooper Lack after a great showing at Wahgunyah last Saturday, Jacob Tinworth and Riley Balins lead the charge for local hopes in the Victorian Junior Open Sedan state title on Saturday with more than twenty competitors keen to win the big number one state honours. Braidan Webster, Connor Claridge, Marcus Maclean, Harry Cecil, Jordyn Tewkesbury, Jack Randall and Hunter Carey are some of the fast competitors from around Victoria gunning for the same result.

Ladies Open Sedan competitors will compete in the Firecracker 1000 feature event with a stellar line-up that includes Wangaratta member drivers Felicity Roycroft, Jaimi Barber, Leah Orgill, Tay Barnard, Pauline Fell, and Bianca Ballantyne. The Wangaratta Ladies represent many of the top drivers in the state and they will face fierce competition from Katie Meyer, Kimberley Smith, and Sarah Meakins in particular.

Unlimited Sedans follow up from their series round on Saturday at Wahgunyah to one at Wangaratta City Raceway a week later. Last weekend’s winner Travis Ramsdale is back and is the favourite on paper. Danny Smith, Peter Farley, Corey McDonald, and Tim Williams are some other drivers that on past results should be in the mix for a podium this week.

Junior 1200cc Sedan competitors have a large field of entrants also with Barnawartha racer and Victorian champion Bryce Leek heading up the nominations list. Braidan Webster, Ella Sheedy, Riley Taylor, Brad Marshall, Xander Baxter, Will Fallon, and Arthur Hutchinson will make the racing in the 1200s something not to miss. Whilst Leek is the state champion, Hutchinson keeps winning almost every race meeting he attends, whilst Fallon is a star at Alexandra when he has competed in the 1200s.

Fresh of victory in Ballarat last Saturday Caleb Lincoln leads the Sports Sedan line-up this week. Steven Loader, Felicity Roycroft, Jack Chiminello, and Albert Fell have all got great results in the class before or are running at the front currently when they compete; Fell has podium results back to back at Swan Hill and Ballarat.

Goulburn Oven’s Sedan association members will compete in an aggregate event with the likes of Ben Schmetzer, Marty Bassett, Justin Brockley the Victorian champion, Mitch Watts, Billy O’Donoghue, and Chris Brockley in the field. Brockley won at Swan Hill two weeks back whilst? won at Wahgunyah last weekend. It is a tough class to pick a winner from, just like all the rest this Saturday.

Compact Speedcars return to Wangaratta City Raceway with a great field that includes the current New South Wales Champion Justin Paull, Goulburn Valley and North-Eastern Victoria locals such as Jesse Nicholas, Mark Cecil, and Louis Rodriguez plus other stars in very fast cars including Mitch Allison, Chris Curren, Matt Papa, Trevor Perry and Michael Conway. Everybody pulled up short of victory last weekend and are keen to stamp a ‘W’ in the book.

Entry Fee to enjoy the racing is $25 per adult, $20 for Aged and Disabled Concession, $10 for Kids aged six through to sixteen, children under six free and a family ticket is $60 for two adults and three kids over the age of six.

The gates to the public open from 12pm and racing begins from 3pm.
