Volvo Polestar Racing and drivers Scott McLaughlin and Robert Dahlgren are heading to the Townsville 500 this weekend for a challenging street race.
”I am very much looking forward to Townsville, it is a street race combined with a permanent race track. I think it will suit the car pretty nicely,” said Dahlgren.
The race weekend features a hectic schedule with three qualifying sessions and three races, two of 125 kilometers on Saturday and the final one of 250 kilometers on Sunday.
”It is an awesome event and it is very tough on the body with long races. I am looking forward to race on a street track to really experience the limits,” said McLaughlin.
Townsville marks the second Super Street race format of the year, the first one was the season opener in Adelaide where McLaughlin scored Volvo’s first podium after a spectacular last lap battle with reigning champion Jamie Whincup.
”Our car is very good at street tracks, it was really good on hard tyres at Adelaide earlier this year. I have had some good results on this track in the past as well, so I am looking forward to have a strong race weekend,” said McLaughlin.
McLaughlin is seventh in the drivers’ championship on 1045 points with Shane Van Gisbergen closest to him in sixth position, 66 points ahead.
