Nulon Racing Team Principal Matty Cook has taken leave from the Supercars squad.
A team spokesperson has confirmed that Cook is temporarily absent from his post for personal reasons.
The length of the leave period is as yet unknown, but Speedcafe has been advised that he may return as soon as the NTI Townsville 500, which is the next event on the Supercars calendar, from July 7-9.
Cook joined PremiAir Racing during the first half of 2022, becoming its inaugural hire as Team Principal after the squad was formed when leading drag racer Peter Xiberras bought Tekno Autosports/Team Sydney from Jonathon Webb.
He has been heading up Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Super2 programme, although he is not the latest arrival to the Arundel-based outfit from Banyo.
That mantle is now held by Romy Mayer, who was announced as a recruit of PremiAir last week after most recently working as an engineer on Triple Eight’s GT3 programme.
PremiAir drivers Tim Slade and James Golding are currently 13th and 14th, respectively, in the drivers’ championship.
