With just hours before the first National Rugby League preliminary final between the Brisbane Broncos and the Sydney Roosters, one of game’s greats has used an unusual method to get his heart rate up in preparation for the big game.
Petero Civoniceva is an ambassador with Eagers Holden in Brisbane, who are also a team sponsor at Red Bull Racing Australia.
The planets aligned to free up a seat in the team’s unique Sandman V8 ride car and six-time V8 Supercar champion Jamie Whincup took the big man for a spin.
Civoniceva played more than 300 NRL games, 45 tests for Australia, six internationals for his native Fiji and 33 State or Origin games for Queensland, but admitted to being more nervous before the ride than running out against an international pack of forwards.
