Eastern Creek’s motorsport precinct is set to expand with news that a new $5million indoor motocross facility will be built in Western Sydney.

The Australian-first facility, to be known as Sydney Indoor MotoX Park, will be located alongside the Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway, which is located adjacent to Sydney Motorsport Park.

Completion is scheduled for December in order to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the karting complex, which will be renamed Sydney Premier Karting Park as part of the project.

Sydney Indoor MotoX Park will feature three separate tracks, which can operate independently, in a 12,000 square metre space.

The facility will be housed under a climate controlled dome, and include stadium-style seating for up to 6,000 spectators.

The project has been spearheaded by local dirt bike enthusiast Mattew Bartolo, who was frustrated by a lack of available venues for riding.

“If you live in the Western Sydney corridor from Parramatta through to Penrith, you can drive for up to two hours before you find somewhere suitable to ride,” said Bartolo.

“Sydney Indoor MotoX Park will give riders a facility to ride in at any time of day or night and in any weather condition.

“Riders can bring their bike or hire one of our bikes and full safety equipment on-site.”

Eastern Creek International Karting Raceway managing director Garry Holt was also extremely enthusiastic about the new addition to the operation.

“Two- and four-wheel enthusiasts now have a home day and night, seven days a week right on the M7/M4 corridor,” said Holt of the facility’s location near the junction of two of the city’s motorways.

“The plan for the Sydney Indoor MotoX Park is extremely exciting and something that I am sure will be embraced by motorcyclists from the Central Coast through to the Blue Mountains and beyond.

“We’ve uncovered several of Australia’s best-known motorsport exports through the hire karts at Eastern Creek, and hopefully through Mattew we can uncover the next Chad Reed at Sydney Indoor MotoX Park.”

Planning is entering the final stages of submittal, with construction expected to begin shortly.
