The Australian GT Championship is set to feature heavily on the Supercars support bill next year following the release of its 2020 calendar.
Five of the championship’s six events will be held on Supercars weekends, with the only other event being the Bathurst 6 Hour.
The championship is set to take in events at Barbagallo, The Bend, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast, and Sandown, meaning the series will feature at all three rounds of next year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.
All events are set to feature two 60 minute races across the weekend, which was widely requested in the survey sent to competitors by the category earlier this year.
It will make for three visits to Mount Panorama across the two championships, with appearances at the 12 Hour, 6 Hour, and 1000.
“This is the type of calendar I’ve wanted since joining AGT as a competitor 14 years ago,” said category rights holder Jim Manolios.
“This is a national championship that visits five States in six events – including Bathurst in spades.
“There has been a lot of discussion take place with respect to how we improve the program and provide teams what they were looking for – well if this calendar doesn’t get you excited, then check into the nearest hospital because you probably don’t have a heart beat!
The calendar is also a precursor to greater Supercars involvement in the category, which is set to be confirmed next week.
Also set to be released is a dedicated GT4 championship, with the class next year not falling within the broader Australian GT Championship competition.
