A winner of the Easter enduro in 2022, Hill has been called up to join the defending race winners after Crick fell ill on Thursday.
The decision for Crick to step away was made jointly by him and the team.
“While it’s extremely disappointing to not be able to defend the crown, I believe I’ve made the correct decision for the team,” Crick said.
Team owner and driver Campbell noted the fortunate availability of Hill at short notice.
“We’re obviously disappointed for Cam because he’s been such a part of this team and we’re really good mates – but sometimes these things happen,” Campbell said.
“We’re fortunate that Cam Hill was available and isn’t far away from Bathurst so could get here in time to compete. He, Cricky and I are great mates so it’s all worked out.
“His track record here, and in the sport in general, is brilliant so there’s no concerns with him having the ability to jump in and be on the pace from lap one and help us achieve another good result at our home race.”
Crick notably started his first Bathurst 1000 in 2024 alongside Hill at Matt Stone Racing.
The remainder of the 69-car grid remains unchanged ahead of Practice 1 this morning at 8:20am AEDT.
