Brad Jones Racing is hoping to convert a double chance into victory in the 2019 Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge, which will be decided at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

Two of the Albury-based squad’s entries made the top four, with the #8 BJR Holden Commodore of Nick Percat attracting the greatest haul of points during the SuperSprint events to sit on top of the leaderboard on 175 points.

Jamie Whincup’s Red Bull Holden Racing Team Commodore ended the ‘regular season’ in second, five points behind, while Tim Slade’s #14 BJR Freightliner Commodore qualified for the finals in third and the #55 Tickford Mustang of Chaz Mostert in fourth.

Having expanded to nine races and eight events this year, the winner of the Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge will receive $20,000 in prize money and the Golden Rattle Gun.

Brad Jones Racing is the only team to make the final each year since the challenge was first held in 2017 and last year split the top prize with DJR Team Penske, which was proclaimed the winner in a near-dead-heat.

“Everyone at BJR takes this competition very seriously and after last year’s results, coming away with a tie it left us with unfinished business to complete,” said BJR team owner Brad Jones.

“We are determined to win the Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge Golden Rattle Gun this year.

“We’re a close team and every member works together to deliver their best performance.

“In sudden death finals like this it can become a lottery, but we are as well prepared as we can be”

The Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge finale will take place in pit lane during Fox Sports’ Pit Lane Live program from 1830 AEDT on Friday night.
