Jason Bright has called for a more consistent method of investigating on-track incidents after being dealt a drive-through penalty in Race 15 at the Sucrogen Townsville 400.

Bright spun Will Davison at Turn 13 while battling for ninth position after the race’s one and only Safety Car restart (Lap 47).
The Team BOC Commodore driver served a drive-through penalty within five laps of the incident, dropping to 24th position before eventually finishing 22nd.
While Bright was not the only driver to receive a drive-through this weekend, the previous event at Hidden Valley saw four drivers handed post-race penalties for on-track indiscretions.
“The officials look at so many incidents after the race and give them a 30-point penalty and we just got a 100-point penalty,” said Bright after Race 15
“Either stop giving out drive throughs in the race or increase the penalty after the race. Thirty points is a token compared to a drive through just after a safety car.”
Lee Holdsworth had dived beneath the Team BOC Commodore on the way into the corner – contributing to the incident.
“Holdsworth made a lunge at the last corner and when I gave him room I gave Will Davison a tap,” said Bright after Race 15.
“I should have just let Holdsworth come through because if I hadn’t hit Davo myself he would have for sure. I was just trying to get out of his way so he wouldn’t hit me.
“I wouldn’t mind having another crack at this weekend. In the end the car was bloody good considering the changes we made coming into the race.”
Bright now sits 10th in the championship standings – 640 points behind Jamie Whincup.
