The newest and oldest Porsche Payce Carrera Cup Australia champions were honoured at the category’s annual gala dinner on Sunday night.
Sonic Motor Racing’s Jordan Love collected the major prize on the night after wrapping up one of the closest Carrera Cup championships on the streets of Surfers Paradise earlier in the day.
Not only did Love get his name on the trophy, he also received a trip to the Porsche Ice Experience in Finland which will be taken in March next year as part of his prize.
He will also travel to Germany for the Porsche Night of Champions in December and be provided full entry into next year’s Australian Carrera Cup.
Liam Talbot was awarded the same prize for winning the Pro-Am class.
Love picked up another trip to Europe for the 2019 Porsche Motorsport Junior Programme Shootout after winning the Michelin Junior Champion title.
This year was the 15th Australian Carrera Cup and Porsche took the opportunity to honour all the previous champions – except Nick Foster (2015), Matt Campbell (2016) and Jaxon Evans (2018) because of current international commitments.
The list of champions were headed by 2003 inaugural winner Jim Richards and four-time champion Craig Baird.
Fabian Coulthard (2005), David Reynolds (2007) and Steve Richards (2014) capped off a busy day after their Supercar commitments with attendance along with 2017 champion David Wall.
