Sunday’s action packed Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was viewed by the race’s biggest average metro television audience in seven years.
The eight-hour race, which did not finish until 1830 local time, drew an impressive 1.351 million metro average, according to official OZTAM ratings.
The result marks the highest since the Seven Network returned to broadcasting the race in 2007 and comes in the final year before V8 Supercars’ new Fox Sports-Network Ten agreement kicks in.
Equally as impressively, the race drew a national peak audience of 3.8 million; a 25 percent increase on 2013.
At 2.2 million, the average national audience – covering both metro and regional markets – was up 11 percent year-on-year.
The strength of the television numbers were backed up by V8 Supercars’ circuit attendance figures.
A 193,647 total across the four days proved 6.4 percent up on last year and the second highest ever, behind only the 50th year celebration event in 2012.
