TeamVodafone has unveiled a new car, suit and helmet look for this weekend’s Armor All Gold Coast 600.
The champion Bathurst team has adopted themed race suits and helmets, supporting of the Red Cross’ REDiSupport program.
The team’s cars will also display Red Cross branding on the roofs of its Commodore VE IIs.
Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup unveiled their new look at Kurrawa Surf Club today with their race suits and helmets made specially to look like they are wearing swimmers and skullcaps over the top.
The racing suits will be auctioned off following this weekend’s Gold Coast 600, with all proceeds raised going to the Red Cross’ REDiSupport program.
Lowndes was thrilled to reveal the new attire and said he was looking forward to donating it to such an important cause.
“Today’s event was great in raising awareness for the Red Cross’ REDiSupport program, which is a really important initiative for all Australians,” Lowndes said.
“The driver’s suits and helmets look great and really embody the Gold Coast event. It’s great that we can auction them off and donate the proceeds to such a good cause.”
Whincup said helping charitable organisations is an important part of the sport.
“It’s really important that charities such as the Red Cross are included in the sport and it’s a fun thing to do whilst supporting a good,” he said.
REDiSupport volunteers work to assist Australians in emergencies and are currently on standby for the South East Queensland residents who have been affected by recent flooding.
The Vodafone Foundation is a supporter of the Red Cross, donating over $600,000 to the organisation over the past two years.
The #888 TeamVodafone Commodore will be on track tomorrow at Queensland Raceway for a special test session for the international drivers. The UK’s Andy Priaulx will team up with Lowndes, while Whincup will be paired by regular co-driver Steve Owen.
