Sebastien Bourdais has been officially confirmed to continue with KVSH Racing in the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series.
After a period of uncertainty Bourdais will remain with the outfit in the #11 Chevrolet.
It retains co-primary sponsorship from weight loss supplement company Hydroxycut.
While it was widely expected Bourdais would continue, team owners Kevin Kalkhoven, James Sullivan and Jimmy Vasser formally announced the deal at the Phoenix pre-season test.
KVSH Racing will run the entry solo for the full season although it had been pursuing ways of fielding a second full-time car.
“We’re no Penske or Ganassi, but we can be as good or better on any given day when we get our stuff together,” Bourdais said.
“That’s really the challenge for me that I relish. I’ve been on the side of being expected to win because you’re on the big teams and that’s what you should be doing.”
Bourdais has spent 11 seasons driving in a combination of Champ Car (2004-2007 champion) and IndyCar which was interrupted by two seasons in Formula 1.
“Sebastien is a proven champion and has shown over the last two years that he is capable of competing and beating the best in the Verizon IndyCar Series,” Kalkhoven said.
The KV Racing outfit is charged with the task of fielding the one-off Pirtek Team Murray entry which will see Matthew Brabham tackle the Angie’s List race on the Indianapolis road course on May 14 and the 100th running of the Indy 500 on May 29.
