Paul Morris has offered Sydney Swans player Buddy Franklin an open invitation to attend his Performance Driving Centre on the Gold Coast.

Franklin crashed his girlfriend’s Jeep into parked cars at Rose Bay in Sydney with a roadside breath-test producing a negative result to alcohol.

The former Hawthorn star has denied that he was texting on his mobile phone or became distracted leading up to the incident.

The V8 Supercars driver Morris says Franklin should undertake an Advanced Driver Training course to develop his skills on the road.

“We’d like to provide an open opportunity for Buddy to come and spend a day with us here at the Performance Driving Centre,” Morris said.

“A day of Advanced Driver Training will arm him with the correct skills to handle difficult road situations he might find himself in, it will also teach him correct attitudes when on the road, which will provide a safety net for his passengers and fellow road users.”

Morris is a staunch advocate of Advanced Driver Training courses which he feels every driver should be exposed to.

“Advanced Driver Training isn’t just something for racecar drivers, everyone from pre-license right through to so-called experienced drivers should be completing a course.”

“Buddy wouldn’t have got to where he is in the AFL world without having access to the best training methods and being shown how to be the best footballer he can be.

“Being a road user is absolutely no different – everyone needs to be armed with the skills to ensure they are the most competent and safest drivers on the road.”

The Performance Driving Centre at Norwell between Brisbane and the Gold Coast has the only mechanical turntable in the southern hemisphere which is used to teach drivers how to react and recover and develop higher levels of car control.

“We have some of the best driver trainers in the world right here at the Performance Driving Centre and the skills that Buddy would learn are invaluable.

“These are skills that everyone who steps behind the wheel requires. When my son is old enough to drive on the road, there is no way he’ll be stepping behind the wheel without having completed a number of these drills.
