Stewards have fined Chaz Mostert $3,000 after his WD-40 Phillip Island 500 Race 6 victory burnout breached regulations.
The Supercheap Auto Racing driver elected to celebrate his first championship race win since August 2015 with a burnout at the Turn 1 run off area.
Mostert’s antics contravened rules issued this weekend regarding static burnouts, resulting in a $3,000 fine of which $2,000 is suspended until the end of the year.
“Following the Race, the DRD conducted an investigation into an allegation that the Driver of Car #55, Chaz Mostert, disobeyed the End of Race Procedure by performing a static burnout,” read the stewards report.
“Following an admission to the breach, the Stewards imposed a Fine of $3,000, of which $2,000 is suspended until 31/12/17.”
Stewards investigated and deemed that the opening lap incident involving Will Davison, Nick Percat, Todd Kelly, Garth Tander and Jason Bright required no further action.
Simona de Silvestro was cleared of failing to provide racing room while racing Scott McLaughlin on the final lap.
