Chaz Mostert’s Method Motorsport has officially confirmed it will race in the SRO Motorsport Group’s new GT4 Australia Series in 2024.
Announced earlier this year, Mostert’s new venture will enter two McLaren Artura GT4s into the SRO Motorsport Group-backed series to run on the Shannons SpeedSeries schedule in 2024.
It follows the SRO Motorsport Group assuming full control of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS in 2024 after running the primarily GT3-based series in cooperation with the Australian Racing Group since 2021.
Method Motorsport co-owner Gareth Whiteley stated the international connection was the key to joining the SRO-run GT4 Australia Series.
“Our decision to align with the SRO GT4 Series was driven by a shared commitment to integrity and excellence,” Whiteley explained.
“The Alignment offers a platform for our talented drivers to showcase their skills on a global stage in the near future, but most certainly across Australia next season.
“The SRO GT4 Series not only values our passion for motorsport but also brings opportunities for Method Motorsport to extend our services to drivers of all experiences.
“With a calendar featuring six rounds and a limited number of available seats between the two Arturas, we expect to have a complete roster as we head into the upcoming season.”
Team Principal Guy McEntyre further emphasised the decision.
“Bringing an international powerhouse like SRO Motorsports Group to Australia is not only an enormous step forward for Method Motorsport which we simply could not pass up,” McEntyre added.
“SRO is the founding body for GT4 internationally and will give our drivers the opportunity to compete in a class of racing which has been amazingly successful across the world with all the hallmarks for close competitive racing on an equal playing field.”
SRO Founder Stephane Ratel welcomed Method Motorsport as the first confirmed entrant.
“We are delighted to welcome Method Motorsport with their two brand-new McLaren Arturas as the first official entries in the brand new GT4 Australia Championship,” Ratel said.
“We are very excited to see what this new team and their relationship with McLaren Customer Racing can achieve in GT4 Australia.
“There will be more exciting GT4 Australia entries and news to be announced shortly.”
Further details on Method Motorsport’s campaign will be announced in due course.
