For the first time in 15 years, Motorsport Australia’s Victorian state championships will return to Calder Park this weekend with the sixth and final round of the Vic State Race Series.
Nine categories will race around the recently renovated facility and will include Saloon Cars, MGs and Invited, Formula Vee, Series X3 Hyundais and BMW E30s, Porsche 944 Challenge, Formula Vee, Improved Production and a new-for-2023 Combined Sedans.
In the latter there will two Mercedes AMG GT4s driven by father-son team of Rob and Bailey Love, whilst William Timms adds to the variety in his Mustang bodied MARC II.
Victorian Improved Production Championship front runners Luke Grech-Cumbo and Daniel Timewell in their V8 Holdens will aim to maximise their power advantage on the long main and back straights.
Saloon Cars did not exist in the VSRS competition when last at Calder in 2008. Ford Falcon AU driver Keven Stoopman took part in that meeting driving a HQ Holden.
Already crowned Formula Vee champion, Reef McCarthy and is favoured along with Lee Partridge with both entering Calder in their Sabre 02s.
Phil Chester is a hot favourite in MGs and Invited, his MGB V8 return to racing after a period on the sidelines.
Competitive starts at 9:10am AEST on Saturday, with all categories scheduled to take part in 20min qualifying sessions followed by a 25-minute race for each. On Sunday there will be a 20 and 25min race for all categories.
Tickets are available at the gate. Entry is $5 per person, or $10 per car. Children under 16 years have free entry.
