Scott Pye claimed the fastest lap in the third practice session late in the day in his NT Shipping-backed Commodore at the Hidden Valley circuit.
Pye, driving the #80 Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport-prepared Holden, went to the top of the time sheets late in the session after setting a 1:10.2600 in the car that is sporting signage from a group of local businesses.
The Brisbane-based driver prevailed over David Reynolds (Bottle-O Ford) who finished with a best time of 1:10.3456s with Jamie Whincup finishing third fastest in 1:10.6747s
Alex Davison continued to show decent pace in the Jeld-Wen Ford with his 1:10.7451s lap good enough for fourth.
After the dramas in the previous session Shane van Gisbergen was able to produce a promising fifth fastest in the Tekno Autosports Holden after it was fitted with a replacement transaxle following practice two.
van Gisbergen finished with a 1:10.7825s topping Craig Lowndes, Mark Winterbottom, Will Davison, Maro Engel and Alex Premat to complete the top 10.
