Kiwi Scott Dixon has secured pole for the second of Toronto’s double header meetings.

Dixon sizzled around the Toronto circuit to post a 58.9686s lap and claim the front-row with his Chip Ganassi team-mate Dario Franchitti (polewinner for the opening race) to start alongside in second.

The points leader Helio Castroneves has claimed third ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay and Will Power.

It is the first time the resurgent Ganassi team have locked out the front row since Homestead in 2010.

“The lap just came together. I left a little on the table yesterday (qualifying for the opening race),” Dixon said.

It was the 19th pole of Dixon’s brilliant IndyCar career.

“It’s been a little while since we’ve been on pole for a road/street course so definitely very happy about it.”
