The Trass Family Motorsport Ferrari of Jono Lester and Graeme Smyth has claimed pole position for the Australian GT Championship Phillip Island 101.

The Kiwi duo’s average time of 1:27.910s proved to be 0.6s quicker than the Jamec-Pem Racing Audi R8 piloted by Nurburgring 24 Hour winner Chris Mies and Greg Crick.

Maranello Motorsport’s newly repaired #88 Ferrari 458 was third fastest with former V8 Supercars full-timer Tony D’Alberto and television star Grant Denyer at the wheel.

The second row is completed by the Aston Martin Vantage of Andrew Taplin and Dean Canto.

John Magro and Nathan Morcom’s Lamborghini Gallardo edged the Darrell Lea McLaren 650S of Australian GT Championship owner Tony Quinn and Holden Racing Team V8 Supercars racer Garth Tander.

The Skwirk Audi R8 of Rod Salmon and championship leader Natahn Antunes will line up in seventh just seven hundredths adrift of the McLaren.

Nissan Motorsport V8 Supercars driver James Moffat secured 11th spot in the Kevin Weeks Ford GT with Tekno Autosports Jono Webb and Klark Quinn 12th in their McLaren 650S.

The Vicious Rumour Racing Ferrari 458 driven by Andrea Montermini and Tony DeFelice and the #3 Motor School Ginetta failed to set an average lap in qualifying.
