WINNING START FOR KMS

WHEN you head into a new season, there is always the challenge of the unknown – as no matter how much preparation you do during the off season, the proof is always out on the track in racing conditions. For Dayne Kingshott and the Krikke Motorsport team, they started their 2023-24 season campaign on the right foot and claimed a win.

In what is their fourth season together, Kingshott and the Krikke Motorsport team scored an impressive victory in last Saturday night’s opening Maddington Toyota Series round at the Perth Motorplex by leading from start to finish.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better start to the season, and it’s fantastic to open the winning account on our first night out,” expressed Kingshott, who had started from position two in the feature race after winning his heat race and qualifying third in his time trial group earlier in the night.

“When I got into the lead off the start, I found a nice groove around the track and pretty much stayed on it for the whole race. Although there were plenty of stoppages during the feature race and we came close to running out of fuel, I knew one of the keys to staying out in front was nailing every restart and the Krikke Motorsport team provided me with a great car to do that.”

The driver of the WA # 2 Mobil 1 / Bunbury Toyota supported Maxim, who picked up his fourth 410 Sprintcar feature-race win with the Krikke Motorsport team, continued by saying, he is hoping to continue this strong start to the season and once again challenge for the Maddington Toyota Series crown.

“We’ve been right up there in the Maddington Toyota Series in past seasons, so it’d be awesome to get the job done this time around,” he enthused.

“This is my fourth season with the Krikke Motorsport team, and I feel we are really starting to get going together, and hopefully this can give us our best opportunity to capture the Maddington Toyota Series at season’s end.”

Like Kingshott, Krikke Motorsport manager Ryan Krikke was equally as impressed with the team’s start to the new season.

“It was a great start to the season for the team, but full credit must go to Dayne, as he performed well all night, and during the off season, he worked a lot on improving his fitness and is now beginning to reap those rewards,” he said.

“In the feature race, I think he drove a near perfect race, as he was outstanding in setting the pace and even better in lapped traffic. He hit his marks, set a good pace out in front and made the right decisions at the right time. The second-placed car (James Inglis) was probably in the box seat throughout the race, but Dayne never let him capitalise on it.”

Speaking of capitalising, Kingshott and the Krikke Motorsport team are looking to build on their winning start to the new season when the Maddington Toyota Series continues with the second round back at the Perth Motorplex on November 4.
