Popular Supercars television host Jess Yates will miss two rounds this season as she anticipates the arrival of her and husband Luke Egan’s son.
Yates was confirmed as a core part of the sport’s revised 2021 broadcast line-up last week.
She is however expecting to be sidelined for the Tasmania SuperSprint at Symmons Plains on April 10-11, and the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend on May 8-9.
“There’s been a bit of fake news circulating… I would not miss the Mount Panorama 500 for anything!” she said on the latest episode of the Parked Up podcast.
“I will be there at Bathurst for the season-opener and I’ll be there at Sandown for the second event.
“At this stage I’ll probably be missing Tasmania and Tailem Bend, and then I’m hoping to be back for Winton.
“So at this stage I’ll be there, don’t you worry. There’s no way I would miss the season-opener.
“I’m actually due on the weekend of the Tasmanian event, so unless we’re doing the telecast out of Sydney – and look, with the way things have been going and particularly the way they panned out last year, who knows.
“I’ll be ready to go just in case, but yeah, I’ll have to be at home on the ready for this baby to arrive.
“I had a couple of weeks off over Christmas and New Year so I’m feeling really refreshed and I actually can’t wait to get the Supercars season underway.”
The 2021 season is scheduled to open with the Repco Mount Panorama 500 on February 26-28.
