International motorsport mogul Alan Gow says that he has been disappointed with James Courtney’s season so far at the Toll Holden Racing Team.
Gow has managed James Courtney’s racing career since 1998, and helped ink a major three-year deal for the reigning V8 Supercars champion to switch from Dick Johnson Racing to the factory Holden team.
Besides a surprise race win in Abu Dhabi in the second race of the season, the results so far have not been to Gow’s desire.
While Gow expressed his frustration regarding Courtney’s first half of 2011, he is looking forward to the management changes at Walkinshaw Racing, including the appointment of Steve Hallam to the managing director’s role.
“This year has been a bit of a disappointment for everyone concerned, including HRT,” Gow told Speedcafe.com.
“It’s not what James expected, it’s not what I expected and it’s certainly not what HRT expected.
“They have some issues with the team which as we know they are going through and resolving and doing some management changes and restructuring, so it’s all good for the future.”
Besides managing Courtney’s career, Gow is the series director for the British Touring Car Championship and the FIA’s Touring Car commission president.
