Max Johnston will race in the famed Eldora Dirt Derby in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series next week.
Johnston, a 20-year-old sprintcar driver from Sydney, will make his NASCAR debut in the #02 Young’s Motorsport entry.
“I’m humbled at the opportunity to race in one of NASCAR’s top tier series with Brandt Professional Agriculture and Young’s Motorsports,” said Johnston.
“Hard work and never giving up is something I live by and I want to apply that as I make my NASCAR debut.”
Johnston will race with backing from agricultural equipment manufacturer and retailer Brandt.
“We are excited to put Max behind the wheel for his NASCAR Truck Series debut as a representative of Brandt both here and in Australia,” said Rick Brandt, President & CEO of Brandt.
“The Eldora Speedway race is one of a kind and we look forward to seeing Max’s skills on the dirt track.”
The Eldora Dirt Derby was added to the Truck Series calendar in 2013, the first dirt race for any of the three national series since 1970, and became an instant fan-favourite.
This year’s race on the half-mile (800m) Eldora Speedway will be held on the night of Wednesday July 19 (local time).
