Matt Kenseth has won the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway giving him the perfect start in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
After taking victory last week in 10-race Chase opener in Chicago, Kenseth scored his seventh overall win of the year now has a 14-point lead over Joe Gibbs Racing teammate team-mate Kyle Busch, who finished second far the second-straight week.
Greg Biffle finished third, followed by Jimmie Johnson and Jamie McMurray to round out the top five.
Martin Truex Jr led a race-high 98 laps and ran in the top five for most of the afternoon but slipped back at the end of the race to finish 10th.
Australia’s Marcos Ambrose finished in 18th position after fighting his way through the field.
“I thought I won the race there I was driving so hard and finished 18th,” said Ambrose.
“We’ve been battling consistency here over a run in the race and the good news is we were better today at the end than we were at the start, so we’ll just keep plugging away here and try to fix our woes.”
