Jack Smith will make his Supercars main game debut as part of a Brad Jones Racing wildcard entry for the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint.
The Gold Coast teenager is set to pilot a ZB Commodore at Symmons Plains next week where he will join BJR’s regular entries for Tim Slade, Nick Percat, and Macauley Jones.
Smith is currently contesting his third full season in Super2 with the Albury squad with the 19-year-old lying ninth in the standings after the Adelaide 500 season opener.
The rising star, who won the 2017 Super3 Series and recently added the New Zealand BNT V8s Championship to his resume, is gearing up for his main game debut by conducting a test in the ZB Commodore at Winton today.
“I’m excited about racing against the main game guys,” said Smith.
“I’ve been watching and analysing the way they do things for a long time now and know there is a big challenge ahead of me.”
“I know the circuit, but all the other elements of the weekend will be new for me. Longer races and managing the tyres, pit stops, the qualifying format, it’s a lot to take in and learn. That kind of experience is invaluable and is what helps young guys transition between the two series.”
“There are no expectations going into this in terms of results, this is about getting next level race experience and learning as much as I can. I have a great team in BJR who constantly support me; and to work alongside Macauley, Tim and Nick for the weekend will be really helpful.”
Smith’s livery for the Tasmania SuperSprint wildcard will be revealed soon.
