Brendon Leitch is the first driver named as competing in next year's Castrol Toyota Racing Series.
Leitch will start the new season with four previous TRS campaigns under his belt, his best series result being third in 2016.
The 21-year-old Invercargill (New Zealand South Island) driver has this year also raced in the Formula 4 United States Championship.
He is currently ninth in that series with one event remaining, the highlight being a race and overall weekend win at Mid-Ohio in August.
“When I got (to the USA) I was ready to go,” said Leitch.
“The level of competition in TRS is so strong, everybody is quick, it really set me up very well for coming to the USA. It's the perfect preparation.”
“It's been fantastic, I have learned a lot about race-craft, about resilience and about communicating with my engineer and it's all been instantly applicable in the USA.”
More announcements are set to be made in coming weeks before the season-opener at Ruapuna Park on January 12-14.
