Kyle Busch set a new track record in winning the Texas pole

Brothers Kurt and Kyle Busch will share the front row for the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kurt Busch in the Front Row Furniture Chevrolet set his time midway through the session and had to wait for the remainder of the field. Younger brother Kyle in the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota topping the time sheets with a new track record as third last car out onto the track.

“We didn’t unload the best, but the guys really used the whole tool box today,” said Kyle Busch.

“I’m looking forward to tomorrow night.”

Good news for Australia’s Marcos Ambrose who will share the second row with Richard Petty Motorsports teammate Aric Almirola. The fourth quickest time is Ambrose’s best starting position at the ultra-fast Texas track.

“I was pretty happy with the lap – I thought we had a shot at it, but it wasn’t enough,” said Ambrose.

“I’m really proud of my DeWalt team after we went through a really tough patch there in the first four races and we’re running really well right now.

“I’m proud of Drew Blickensderfer (Crew Chief) for sticking by us and the whole team for not giving up on me, and we’re building better cars which is making a difference.”

Last weekend at Martinsville the Tasmanian started on the front row and scored his first top-10 of the season with an eight place finish.
