Bruce Wilson, the celebrated mechanic and friend of New Zealand's former F1 driver and Le Mans 24 Hour winner Chris Amon, has died just before a book documenting his feats is released.
Wilson served as a mechanic for Amon, who died in August, for more than 40 years.
His book, The Master Mechanic, that features some of the heady days of when Amon was a factory Ferrari F1 driver, is about to go on sale.
Wilson was 85.
