James Courtney will debut the new Arai GP-6 forced air helmet – the first of its kind to be used in racing competition in Australia.
The new helmet is the latest version of Arai’s GP range, featuring increased airflow to the driver’s head.
Unlike other air vents, this forced air kit on the new Arai will bring fresh air to the top and the side of the helmet, courtesy of large 10mm intake and exhaust holes (the front vents are closeable).
Courtney has been given the responsibility of debuting the new helmet this weekend at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway.
“The helmet is designed to cool all of your head, rather than the old helmet which would just cool your face,” Courtney told Speedcafe.com.
“These use the forced air to cool the back of your head, down your neck and on your face. That is going to be especially handy at this weekend’s round – probably one of the hottest races during the year.”

Along with the new helmet comes a new paint scheme.
“The Antman is crazy, he’s awesome, he’s the master!” Courtney said.
“He does an unbelievable job. He’s untouchable here in Australia.”
