This weekend’s second round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series at Ipswich in Queensland will see a new Italian kart take to an Australian circuit for the first time.
Victorian drivers Jordie Lindstrom and Lee Mitchener will launch DR Kart onto the Australian karting scene in the Pro Gearbox (KZ2) category.
“This has all come together at the perfect time, the CIK Stars of Karting Series is a fantastic event to launch the chassis, Lee and I are both extremely excited about the weekend ahead,” said Lindstrom.
“We are going to be behind the eight ball to start with as our first drive of the karts will be Friday practice, but with the factory support so far from Italy no doubt the information they have provided us with will hopefully enable us to come to grips with the chassis very quickly.”
The Ipswich event will showcase the KZ version of the J90 model which is the heart of the DR range. JGL Racing, who has been officially appointed Australian importer, now has all chassis from Midgets right through Clubman and CIK.
Planning to make a huge impact, the team at DR Kart is excited about putting together one of Australia’s most professional karting outfits both through team presentation and support customer support.
Australian drivers will enjoy fantastic factory support and plans are already in the pipeline to have some Australians compete with the Italian factory team in Europe, this is something that is now very realistic with the resurgence of the CIK-style of racing in Australia which is giving Australian drivers the chance to race as they would in Europe.
