POLL: Which domestic category is your favourite?

Australia is blessed with an eclectic mix of classes.

While the Supercars Championship is at the top of the tree in terms of circuit racing downunder, this poll aims to ask what your favourite national category is other than Supercars.

Standing as the primary nursery ground for the top class, the Dunlop Series continues to provide the tools for aspiring young drivers wanting to graduate to the top class.

The one-make Porsche Carrera Cup Championship also provides a key avenue for hot young talent to make the grade with dashing Warwick driver Matt Campbell winning the title in 2016.

Campbell has secured a place in the 2017 European-based Porsche Supercup courtesy of topping an exhaustive on and off-track test in Germany which tested the mettle of nine youngsters from around the world.

The 2016 season also saw the introduction of the one-make Toyota 86 Series with the coupes also providing an excellent breeding ground for young talent as well as an outlet for established racers.

The Australian GT Sprint and its freshly conceived Endurance counterpart have become immensely popular with a growing fanbase around the country.

As the GT grids, which feature a wide cross section of some of the most exotic marques in the world, increase so too does its following.

While Formula Ford and Formula 3 have lost lustre with the controlling body, CAMS, in recent seasons the open-wheel categories still attract a strong following with Leanne Tander creating history by becoming the first female to win a national circuit racing title in 2016.

The second season of the CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship saw small grid numbers as the class attempts to gain traction in this country.

The Shannons Nationals continue to offer a veritable welter of classes in a robust competition menu that sees Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Sports Sedans, Kumho V8s, Radical Australia Cup, Australian Production Cars, Sports Racers and Superkarts on a jammed packed bill.
