Paul Dumbrell says that he is considering what endurance drive options he may have in 2012, if he decides to give away full-time V8 Supercars racing at the end of this year.
Dumbrell still has a one year deal with Rod Nash Racing, but has openly discussed his desire to retire at the end of this season, with plans to focus on his CEO role at Automotive Brands, plus his ironman endevours.
If he does retire, he will become the Number 1 endurance co-driver option for V8 Supercars teams. He is already being touted as a replacement for six-time Bathurst 1000 winner Mark Skaife at TeamVodafone. After this year’s Bathurst 1000, Skaife will be forced onto the sidelines while he holds the role as the chief commissioner of V8 Supercars.
Speaking on his radio program V8 Nation, Dumbrell said that he will make a final decision soon.
“It’s certainly something that is going to come out in the next few weeks. I’ve put a time line on it to make a decision,” Dumbrell said.
“The process I’m going through now is chatting to a few teams and seeing what their plans are. It’s funny, whether or not I retire, I’m actually contemplating what I’m going to be doing in 15 months time for the next enduros.”
