Paul Dumbrell has taken provisional pole for Race 3 of the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship at the Clipsal 500.
The Bottle-O Falcon jumped to the top of the time sheets with two minutes remaining, displacing Jamie Whincup’s TeamVodafone Holden by 0.08s.
Whincup looked set to respond in the dying moments, but lost time in the final sector of his lap, and then spun at Turn 4 on his last attempt.
Lee Holdsworth (Fujitsu Racing) took third, while Garth Tander (Toll HRT) recovered from an early hit with Will Davison (Trading Post Racing) at Turn 9 to take fourth.
Mark Winterbottom (Ford Performance Racing), James Courtney (Toll HRT), Shane van Gisbergen (SP Tools Racing), Rick Kelly (Jack Daniels Racing), Will Davison and Jason Bright (Team BOC) rounded out the top 10.
The Top 10 Shootout will begin at midday.
