Ferrari announced on Wednesday that Leclerc will continue with the team for the “coming seasons”, although the exact length of the new agreement has not been disclosed.

The renewal ensures Ferrari retains one of the cornerstones of its driver line-up as it continues its pursuit of a first drivers’ title since 2007.

It also means Leclerc and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton are both contracted to remain with the Scuderia through at least the end of the 2027 season, with Hamilton’s current deal running until then.

Leclerc’s relationship with Ferrari stretches back a decade, having joined the Ferrari Driver Academy in 2016.

After claiming the Formula 2 title in 2017 and making his Formula 1 debut the following year with Alfa Romeo, he was promoted to Ferrari’s race team for the 2019 season.

Since arriving at Maranello, the Monegasque has established himself as one of F1’s leading drivers and a fan favourite among the tifosi. At 28 years old, he is Ferrari’s second-most capped F1 driver and ranks second only to Michael Schumacher for pole positions with the Scuderia.

During his 155 races for Ferrari, he has achieved eight wins, 27 poles, 11 fastest laps and 52 podiums, with 1708 of his 1747 points coming during his time with the team.

His highest finish in the drivers’ championship was second in 2022, having also finished third in 2024, a position he currently occupies in the 2026 standings.

The Monegasque driver said he was excited to remain with the team.

“I couldn’t be happier to continue this journey with Scuderia Ferrari HP,” Leclerc said.

“It has always been so much more than just a team to me. It’s the team I’ve loved and dreamt of being part of since I was a child, and after all these years it has become a second family.

“Together we’ve shared incredible moments and some tougher ones, but I believe in this team more than ever, and I’m deeply grateful that we will keep pushing side by side toward our shared goal of bringing the world championship back to Maranello.

“Being a Ferrari driver is a dream, but it’s also a responsibility I never take for granted.

“I’ll continue to give absolutely everything I have to bring this team back to where it belongs, at the very top, for everyone in Maranello, and above all for the tifosi, whose passion is the heartbeat of this Scuderia.”

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the latest extension was a natural step for both parties.

“Charles has been part of the Ferrari family for many years now and this renewal feels like something very natural for us,” Vasseur said.

“Over these seasons we have seen him grow, to become not only one of the strongest drivers in Formula 1, but also a person who is completely at one with the team and everything Ferrari represents.

“We appreciate his talent, we love his determination and the way he approaches every day with the people in the Scuderia, both on and off the track.

“We know how much this project means to him and we are happy to continue working towards our shared goals.”

Leclerc’s previous contract extension was announced ahead of the 2024 season, with Ferrari also opting not to disclose the exact length of that agreement.

He heads to his home race in Monaco this weekend aiming to end Ferrari’s 34-race winless streak, having secured two podiums so far in 2026.
