The team is expected to take the SF-26 to the Spanish capital on Thursday, giving Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc their first laps of the 5.416 km street circuit before F1 arrives on September 11-13.
The promotional run will be conducted as one of Ferrari’s permitted promotional events, allowing up to 200 kilometres of driving using tyres designated for filming activities.
Although limited by the regulations, the outing will still provide Ferrari with its first real-world experience of the new venue while also serving as an important milestone for organisers as preparations continue.
The timing of the event is notable given work around the circuit has only recently entered its final stages.
While grandstands and paddock facilities have continued to be completed in recent weeks, the circuit itself has now reached a point where an F1 car can safely take to the track.
Reports from Spain also indicate Madrid authorities have scheduled road closures around the circuit throughout Thursday as construction work and the Ferrari test take place.

Ferrari heads to Madrid on the back of a strong run of form after Charles Leclerc’s victory at Silverstone followed Lewis Hamilton’s win in Barcelona, giving the Scuderia two victories from the last three grands prix.
Those results have lifted Ferrari to second in the constructors’ championship, 78 points behind Mercedes, with Hamilton and Leclerc sitting third and fourth respectively in the drivers’ standings.
Madrid has taken the reins as the home of the Spanish Grand Prix while its former host, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, has been renamed the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.
