Winton Motor Raceway has confirmed it will allow fans to attend the southern Supercars pre-season test day on Friday.
UPDATE: Supercars overrules Winton, fans locked out of test
Doubt had surrounded whether the already rescheduled event would take place on Friday until Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews today confirmed a snap five-day lockdown would not be extended.
That has ensured Supercars’ rejigged path to the season-opener can proceed as per plan, with the Repco Mount Panorama 500 taking place on February 26-28.
With the lockdown lifting tonight at midnight, fans can watch trackside as Tickford Racing, Erebus Motorsport, Team 18, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Brad Jones Racing, Kelly Grove Racing and the Blanchard Racing Team turn laps in anger.
Entry will be free of charge.
Winton management noted some regulations will still need to be adhered to, however.
“Being in Victoria, COVID restrictions still apply,” read part of the circuit’s Facebook post.
“The wearing of masks is mandatory outside and social distancing must be adhered to at all times.
“There is absolutely no access to the pitlane and garage areas where the teams are at work.
“Recommend that you bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. The weather will be ideal for a day outdoors, fine and sunny!
“Entry is through the Huntley Street main gates at 8:00am.
“There are no tickets available at the gate so be sure to get your tickets online here.”
