Fujitsu V8 Series front-runner Scott McLaughlin will get his first laps in a Main Series V8 session at Queensland Raceway this Friday.
The Fujitsu-backed Stone Brothers Racing youngster will turn laps in Shane van Gisbergen’s SP Tools Falcon FG during the endurance sessions after van Gisbergen’s enduro co-drive John McIntyre has been stuck in New Zealand.
“I’m pretty excited about this opportunity – I’m just thankful to Shane for letting me in his car,” McLaughlin said.
“It really came out of the blue – I walked into the workshop this morning and Paul (Forgie – Engineer for #9) came up and asked if I’d like to have a run this weekend … obviously something I’m not going to say no too!.
“Any extra seat time you can grab prior to an event is always a bonus and will definitely help my DVS campaign this weekend, and to be doing it in one of the best cars in the Championship is pretty cool.”
It won’t be the first time McLaughlin has driven the SP Tools car, as he drove the Falcon at the tem’s recent test day.
After his laps in the #9 Falcon FG on Friday morning, McLaughlin will turn his attention to his #93 Falcon BF in the Fujitsu Series.
In other McLaughlin news, he is set to get more FG miles later this year when he steps up to a latest model SBR FG for the final two rounds of the Fujitsu V8 Series at Sandown and Sydney.
The Fujitsu V8 Series supports the V8 Supercars Championship this weekend at Queensland Raceway.
