Fujitsu V8 Supercars driver Taz Douglas will make his Hidden Valley Raceway debut this weekend, but he won’t be behind the wheel of a race car.
The likeable Victorian will work as a the number one mechanic on the #30 Gulf Western Oils Commodore VE, driven by Warren Luff.
Douglas, currently 12th in the Fujitsu V8 Series after two rounds, will spanner the car, plus complete pit stops during the weekend.
“(Team owner) Lucas (Dumbrell) rang me up last week and said he wanted someone,” Douglas told Speedcafe.com.
“I have a full-time job, but I arranged some things and came up. And it’s all good so far – the sun is great compared to Melbourne!
“Everyone in the team seems very nice. I’m not getting too involved in how the team is set-up of the car or re-invent the wheel. I’m just here to spanner the car, help out, and I like it that way. It’s a bit more relaxing.

“Usually I’m at a race track and I’m organising stuff, trying to drive it, engineer it. This way, I’m all care and no responsibility!”
Douglas will be back in Melbourne straight after the meeting, with a test in his Fujitsu V8 Commodore planned for Tuesday.
