Sixty-five entrants are ready for the second event of Bairnsdale Speedway Associations season coming up this Saturday evening with twenty-nine Standard Saloons set to do battle plus a handy field in the Next Gen Standard Saloon Showdown for Junior competitors with all the action to start at 5:30pm.
Fierce competition is expected in the Open Standard Saloons with Josh Thomas the current state number three ranked racer in the class set to do battle with Mitch Foster, Shane Stewart, Glen Pendlebury, Leigh Gooding, Andrew Cormack, Jack Braz, Luke King, Matt Leek, Steve Dadswell and Jacob Vuillermin amongst those who will stive to take the victory. Vuillermin was second last weekend at Alexandra in the Murrindindi Shire and is set to go, whilst there are many in the field who will vie for victory.
Competitors in the Next Gen Junior Standard Saloon Showdown are vying for the victory and points in the first round of the Bairnsdale Junior Standard Saloon series. Hunter Cary, Kaine Smith, Cooper Joynson, Bryce Leek, Tom Braz, Ella Sheedy are all competitors with experience behind them. Anything can happen as the racers aged ten to seventeen continue to develop, Leek is a champion in another category though and he and Carey seem the most likely along with Braz as far as potential winners.
Sheedy and Leek then double up as they compete in the 1200cc Junior Sedan class against Brad Marshall who won last week at Alexandra and Chase Doherty who was quick also. Jai Alexander continues his development in his rookie season behind the wheel.
Division 2 Hot Rod racing returns with great competition nominated. Troy Hutchison who won at Nyora two weeks ago is proving to be difficult to beat however Mel Tatterson Troy Wilson, Rob Tatterson and Fraser and Ben Crittenden will all be amongst the action on Saturday night.
Bree Walker has a win at Bairnsdale and Nyora under her belt already this season and she returns to compete with the likes of Bree and Tahlia Campbell, Elise Halliday, Sarah Gartner, and a host of others in the Ladies Standard Saloon racing this weekend. Walker is growing in confidence can she continue the run of victories or is there going to be a new winner to celebrate after Saturday night.
Spectator entry begins from 1pm and please remember the consumption of Alcohol is prohibited at the venue. Racing will kick off at 5:30pm. Enquiries on the day of racing only, can be made to 0497 297 635, all other enquiries can be made via the clubs website at www.bairnsdalespeedway.com.au
