Eponymous team boss Garry Rogers is confident of finding a commercial partner for the arrival of its transition to Volvo in 2014 following the withdrawal of principal backer Fujitsu.
The Melbourne-based squad and Fujitsu Australia have officially announced the discontinuation of their partnership which began in 2010.
The withdrawal comes at a time when GRM is transitioning from Holden to run a pair of Volvo S60 racers next year when the long standing Garry Rogers Motorsport operation will be known as Volvo Polestar Racing.
Team owner Rogers does not believe that a new commercial partner will have to fit the Volvo profile.
“It's been a great relationship but we are going our way and they are going their way,” Rogers told Speedcafe.com
“We have got some inquiries about next year. We have spoken to Fujitsu as they have with us. We've spoken to several people and we will continue to do so.
“I don't believe another backer will have to fit in with the Volvo brand image.
“Clearly we've got a commercial responsibility to my staff and that is for me to pay them every week and spend the money we've got to spend relies on me being able to source our commercial partners.”
The #33 Commodore of Scott McLaughlin will undergo an unscheduled test at Winton tomorrow so GRM can be assured that it has solved the misfire issues which crippled its campaign at the Armor All GC600.
McLaughlin has been a standout performer for the squad this year and has been confirmed for the Volvo Polestar Racing squad next year however there is no confirmation on the identity of the second driver.
