Kelly Racing has taken the covers off the new look Opel Astra that Andre Heimgartner will drive in place of Chelsea Angelo in TCR Australia Round 4 at Queensland Raceway this weekend.

Heimgartner will run under the familiar white, yellow and black colours of Kangan Institute, one of Victoria’s largest providers of apprenticeship and traineeship training across a range of industries.

The company had been the naming rights partner on Heimgartner’s Subaru WRX for the opening three TCR Australia rounds, and his Altima Supercar at Sandown last year.

Heimgartner will switch to the Astra for this weekend as part of a Kelly Racing reshuffle as it bids to resolve engine niggles that have plagued the cars so far this season.

An engineer from Germany has been dispatched to help the squad this weekend.

With Heimgartner’s Subaru still undergoing repairs following an engine failure at The Bend Motorsport Park, the team has elected to put its Supercars star in Angelo’s car this weekend to help the team understand the car.

Angelo is expected to return to the drive at Winton later this month.

Compensation weights revealed

Meanwhile, TCR Australia has confirmed the compensation weights, designed to help balance the field, that will be in use across the weekend at Ipswich.

The Opel Astra, Subaru WRX and Volkswagen Golf will not be required to carry any compensation weight.

Elsewhere, the Hyundai will now run 40kg instead of the 60kg it ran at The Bend, with the Alfa Romeo dropping 10kg to 40kg at Queensland Raceway.

Meanwhile, recent success have enforced weight changes on the Audi, Honda and Renault.

The Audi will now run with 10kg, the Honda with 20kg and the Renault now has 30kg of compensation ballast.

TCR Australia Round 4 begins today with two practice sessions scheduled.
