Australian international Jake Parsons will join forces with Malaysian team, Aylezo Competizione, in a Class C Ginetta GT4 for the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour from February 3-5.
Parsons will be sharing the Ford-powered machine with Aylezo team principal, Zen Low, WA-based Brit Darren Burke and Japanese racer Shino in the Sepang 12 Hour class winning machine.
Parsons returns to Australian competition after racing in the Pro Mazda category, part of the Road to Indy ladder series in the US where he secured two podium finishes.
After meeting with Low and the team on a recent trip to Asia, Parsons is excited by the squad's enthusiasm.
“The team is so enthusiastic about coming to Bathurst, it is unbelievable,” said Parsons.
“It has proven it can win with its recent class success at the Sepang 12 Hours and we know we have the car to compete all day.
“It is now a matter of the drivers being able to do the job and I think we have the right combination to do that.”
The Aylezo Ginetta is one of two in the Class C GT4 category, which also includes a quartet of Porsche Caymans an Aston Martin Vantage and one of the more intriguing entries in this year's 12 Hour, the KTM X-BOW.
Parsons is taking a cautious approach towards his Bathurst 12 Hour debut, however is aiming to be up the front of the GT4 class.
“It is going to be busy on track with the different classes delivering challenges right throughout the day,” he added.
“For us, keeping everything clean and remaining at the front of our class will be the aim.
“If we can walk away with the class win, that would be a phenomenal effort as well as elevating ourselves up the overall tree.”
Speaking from his Malaysian base at Shah Alam, Low is excited about Parsons joining the team.
“I'm looking forward to sharing the race seat with Jake to challenge the legendary Mount Panorama,” he said.
“Ginetta is a brand that's synonymous with reliability and will keep on running when the going gets tough.
The 22-year-old Parsons' last visit to Mount Panorama was in 2015 where he established the Formula Ford lap record which remains in place.
The GT4 class is primed to provide some healthy competition among the 56 entries for this year's once around the clock classic.
