Two-time V8 Supercars Champion Jamie Whincup says he is pleased to have come out on top in Spedcafe.com.au’s latest Pirtek Poll.
Over 3,000 readers responded to the question: Who will win the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship? (Note: only allowed one vote per person).
TeamVodafone’s Whincup topped the poll with 31% of the vote, narrowly ahead of Orrcon Steel Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom (29%).
Craig Lowndes (10%), Shane van Gisbergen (8%) and James Courtney (7%) rounded out the top five.
Whincup said he was pleased to have won Speedcafe’s Pirtek Poll.
“It’s good, because there have been a few dodgy polls around lately to be honest,” Whincup told Speedcafe.com.au.
“When you can put a note on Facebook and tell everyone to vote for you, and you vote as many times as you want, it can show a completely different scenario.
“It’s great that you guys have done an accurate one to a wide audience, and I’m very happy that people have faith in me that I can do a good job this year.”
