American Jason Johnson has charged into second place in the World Series Sprintcars points standings after an emphatic victory on the preliminary night of the Bunbury (WA) double header.
There is just three nights of racing remaining, Johnson is 433 points behind Series long leader, James McFadden.
Johnson – who led from lights to flag – was followed by Kerry Madsen – who powered by Kaley Gharst and Trevor Green. South Aussie Green ended up on the podium – a first for this season and just reward for a year characterised with a continuation of back injuries and bad luck.
Robbie Farr managed to get past Ghast for fourth, with the venerable Max Dumesny sixth – who earlier set a popular quickest time in qualifying.
Series leader, James McFadden managed just 14th, however continued to rack up A-Main points – whilst Brooke Tatnell flipped hard in his heat before transferring from the B-Main to finish 10th.
The Bunbury event will conclude tonight before heading to the Perth Motorplex for a two night show next weekend.
