For the second season running, Ladies from around Gippsland Victoria have put together a self-promoted series in which the competitors will race throughout the 23/24 season to determine a series champion. This season the series starts at Rosedale International Speedway this Saturday with thirteen competitors set to entertain.
The series is an opportunity for the Ladies to be in the limelight more than ever before as their numbers continue to increase with more Ladies each season becoming race drivers. Differing from years of the past, many of the drivers now have their own cars dedicated to themselves instead of sharing as they have for many years. This has been a huge difference seen in the last five years, showing the increasingly popularity of the racing.
Moving ahead of this weekend’s event at Rosedale, the series will take in Bairnsdale Speedway on the 25th of November, then Drouin Speedway on the 14th of January, Nyora Raceway on April the 20th and conclude the season at Alexandra Speedway on May the 11th. For the competitors, Caroline Allen, and the series support team have been working behind the scenes to get the series up and running and that includes finding supportive sponsors and the host clubs.
At Rosedale this weekend, ‘Pakenham Radiators’ owned proudly by Andrew and Bronwyn Miles are the major sponsor for the Rosedale round of the series. Andrew and Bronwyn have a great business name in regard to Radiators and Exhausts as their speciality and general mechanics also.
Other supporters the series team have locked in include Visual Signage Solutions who are involved in every facet of signage creation be it a vehicle, building, boat, boards or otherwise along with graphic creation and merchandise, Miles Mechanical of Pakenham are in the field of general mechanical, Miles Motorsports for parts and Racegear, Gippsland Metal Recyclers are well known metal recycle experts, and AME known as ACE Marine Electrical in East Gippsland for your boating electrical work.
Not stopping there, add to the list of supporters, AMPworks from the Latrobe Valley for electrical work and specialising in the music and entertainment industry, The Shed Company, Gippsland for Sheds, Garages, Patio’s, Carports, Steel Kit Homes and more, Ultimate Outdoor who are a building firm from Macclesfield, CNL Paint and Panel a vehicle and boat paint and panel specialist from Werribee, whilst DMT Sports Media will be providing written media through the season with a release after each of the events and an end of season release with winners announced also.
All these supporters are contributing to an amazing series ahead for the drivers.
Getting ready for the season kick off Caroline wanted to make a mention of the Rosedale Club. “I just want to thank the Rosedale committee members I have been in touch with to organise the start of the series, they have been extremely helpful not only for the event they are hosting, but also in assisting as we put the series together dotting the I’s and crossing the t’s.”
Entrants this week at Rosedale will see Sarah Gartner travelling into town from Penola in South Australia and competitors from East Gippsland down to Southeast Melbourne also lacing up the race boots with standout competitors from recent seasons such as Bronwyn Miles, Caroline Allen, Michelle George, and Maddison Miles, the action is sure to deliver on the entertainment factor.
Rosedale’s very own Sharlene Laidlaw will look to figure up the front in front of her own home crowd and Laidlaw is no stranger to winning herself. Laidlaw in particular has been strong at Rosedale and Drouin Speedway in recent seasons, with feature race victories collected along the way.
Bairnsdale Speedway Association is represented by a healthy number of entrants with Joanne Richardson and Kater Stuchbery performing consistently always whilst Jordan van Dyk a rookie racer continues her development and Simone Taylor makes a return to racing as her and her partner Daniel have returned to Speedway.
The competitors would also like to thank Louise from Napier Photography for her support with images we can use for promotional purposes. You can purchase images or arrange for products to be made with Louise’s images by contacting her at www.napierphotography.com.au
